Solutions
Existing Traditional Wireless Networks
Currently wireless network coverage in Hotels and similar businesses is provided as follows.
Multiple Access Points (APs) for mobile wireless enabled devices are mounted in corridors or in other locations. This requires the wireless signal to penetrate one or more walls to reach the guest in his room. Several problems follow from this requirement.
By using multiple APs the network speed is compromised and co-frequency interference becomes a serious problem. This is even more apparent in hotels having an atrium.
Signals are weakened for the majority of rooms especially in the conventional room layout where the bathroom is adjacent to the corridor.
The larger and more luxurious the rooms are (for example suites) the bigger the problem becomes.
If radiated power is increased to overcome this attenuation then safety standards may be compromised and interference increased.
In the case of hotels with an atrium layout using circular corridors the signals to individual devices can jump across the atrium between different APs (hopping). This can make accessing the installation unstable.
The Solution
The solution is to use a Cytech signal distribution system for each room. The signal is delivered directly by an individual antenna in each room and the room walls become a shield against interference from other users.
